For the past decade, Prairie Pathfinders Inc, a non profit group originated by four women (Leone Banks, Kathleen Leathers, Sheila Spence & Wendy Wilson) have become determined advocates for hiking in our province. Sharing the beauty, the history, and the natural wonders of Manitoba that can best be appreciated on foot, has become a labour of love. Our dream, which every day is becoming more concrete, is to not only make Manitobans enthusiastic hikers but also to make Manitoba a tourist destination for hiking.

Your Prairie Pathfinder guides have decades of experience exploring the Manitoba countryside, finding hidden gems, and exploring trails well off the beaten path. As authors of three Canadian best selling titles including ‘Hiking the Heartland- Explore Manitoba on foot’, they bring with them a wealth of knowledge and a passion for sharing it.

The Prairie Pathfinder story began with the publication of 'Winnipeg Walks in September 1998. The walking club which was established as a complement to the book, has now grown to include more than 500 members and holds hundreds of guided walks in Winnipeg and other scenic spots throughout the province every year. Since 1998, Winnpeg Walks has sold 12,000 copies (making it a Canadian best seller - four times over).
